Yes, the Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser is FDA-cleared for permanent hair reduction, meaning it can be used safely and effectively at-home for permanent hair reduction results.
The Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser is safe and effective for skin tones I-IV on the Fitzpatrick scale, and works best on naturally light brown or darker body hair. The laser targets melanin in the hair follicle, so it's less effective on lighter hair colours (blonde, red, white/grey) and not suitable for skin tones V-VI, since the laser can't differentiate between melanin in the hair and in the skin itself.
The Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser can be used on legs, arms, underarms, bikini line, fingers, toes, chest, back, stomach and fine or "peach fuzz" type facial hair (upper lip, chin, and sideburn areas only, not eyebrows). Tria 4X is suitable for some facial hair, particularly for women or those with fine, less coarse hair, we don't recommend it for thicker facial hair. Cleanse, shave and dry the area and apply the Phytograph Hydrating Calm Soothing Gel, then unlock your Tria 4X against your skin and choose a setting from 1 to 5. Hold the treatment window to your skin until the flash and beep, move to the next area with a small overlap, and reapply the gel afterwards. Shaving is the only hair removal method to use before and throughout your course of treatments. Cleanse and towel dry the treatment area, then shave before laser hair removal. Shaving removes surface hair so your Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser can reach the follicle beneath your skin, which improves comfort and helps reduce the risk of side effects. Never wax or thread beforehand. We also recommend applying the Phytograph Hydrating Calm Soothing Gel before use to reduce the warming sensation.
The Tria 4X has 5 power settings, ranging from 7 J/cm² at Level 1, to 20 J/cm² at Level 5. Starting at a lower level and building up as your skin adjusts is recommended, higher settings deliver more power for faster results.
Hold the Skin Sensor in the base of your device against the area you wish to treat. If your skin tone is safe to treat, the device will unlock and you can begin. If not, the device will remain locked. Note: Tria 4X devices from 2024 or earlier need to be unlocked before first use, if this applies to you, follow the instructions on this page.
Your Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser takes around 2 hours to fully charge, and each full charge gives you around 30 minutes of treatment time. As a rough guide, one full charge should allow you to do a single larger area (e.g. half a leg) or multiple smaller areas (e.g. both underarms and upper lip).
No. It is not safe to use your Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser on or near tattoos. This is because the ink in the tattoo can absorb the laser’s energy, which the laser targets. Use of the laser on tattoos could cause adverse side effects and serious injury.
The Tria 4X is designed for personal use only and isn't recommended for sharing, for hygiene reasons. It's also only tested and FDA-cleared for adults aged 18 and over.
The number on your Tria 4X Hair Removal Laser’s screen is the pulse counter, which counts up with each successful laser pulse during your treatment session. Some areas may need more pulses than others, so the count will vary depending on the area you’re treating.

    Finally I’m free

    I’ve tried ever hair removal system going. I have had professional laser in past and electrolysis (too painful for me, gives me the creepy crawlies and I can’t be still) but the tria on setting 3/4 is perfect. I’ve only had it a month but I’m pretty much now hair free on my lip and chin. Maybe it will come back but I’m getting longer and longer in between having to worry about the hair coming back. It’s worth every cent I paid imo. I’m lucky to have the right skin tone and hair for it to work as well. I was dealing with daily growth and it wasnt light either and now I’m beginning to feel so much better about myself. I recommend this 100%!!! I do not work for tria and I am not an influencer or even on social media but this product works.

    It’s saved by sanity.

    I wish I had bought it sooner. I researched it for about two years before I finally took the leap. I’m so grateful that I did. I am now living without 5 o’clock shadow on my chin, my neck, my lip, my cheek cheeks. I was so embarrassed!! There was so much of it and impossible to hide that it was there even when it was freshly shaved off, it showed up 5 o’clock shadow and when I plucked it or waxed it, it grew back thicker and fast faster. It was awful . So when I started lasering, I was hopeful, but not expecting a whole lot. Wow was I surprised !! When the hair grew back in some places as it grew back, pale gray or white. When shaved, it blends in with my skin and I can’t even tell. And it doesn’t go back as quickly as it used to like I could’ve shaved three times a day before now maybe every other day for a couple spots of gray hair it’s a wonderful investment. I do not regret it. When they invent a laser that can be rid of white colored hair or white blonde gray wow that’ll be a miracle. Let’s pray for that invention to come someday.

    Been a user for a decade!

    I have always, always, always had facial hair. PCOS gave me pitch black, coarse hairs; dozens of them. In 2015 I broke down and bought one of these. $799 back in those days and worth every single penny and more! I cannot even begin to tell you how legitimate they are.

    In 2020 my unit was having some issues and they were easily able to troubleshoot and fix it. I am devastated to say that this past year it died. I am buying this new fancy upgraded unit and I’m so eager to have beautiful skin again! Ladies, I swear to you, this is the best investment you will ever make. If you want your hair gone…gone gone, this is it. I believe say I did maybe a dozen sessions when I first got it and every six months or so I would give myself one or two more treatments. For a decade I had dream skin without waxing, plucking, etc. I honestly mourned my little lazer but beyond thrilled to be getting a new one. PS no I don’t work for the company LOL I just honestly swear by this device.

    Wish I'd have discovered this sooner!

    So impressed with this laser device and genuinely wish I'd have found it sooner. I've been using it for a couple of months now and the consistency is paying off. Regrowth on my legs has dramatically slowed down and some patches haven't even grown back at all and I've had no regrowth at all on my bikini line and started to see results after the first session in this area. Honestly a game-changer for summer and would definitely recommend!

    Holy Sh*t

    So I never write reviews but I had to for this!

    I have the older model but holy **** this changed my life!! I had done laser hair removal in high school professionally and it did nothing. I went back to shaving and then tried waxing (that helped a little to thin the hair). Then I decided it was time to try laser again but I really did not want to pay for professional session again as they are really expensive. I did my research and found the Tria, and I’m so glad I did.

    I’ve been using it since October 2025 (now March 2026) doing it twice a month and wow it’s insane how much hair I have left - basically none!!!

    THIS WORKS!!!
